1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-18

Brother’s and Sister’s, we want you to know about those Christian’s who have died so you will not be sad, as others who have no hope.  We believe that JESUS died and that he ROSE AGAIN.  So, because of HIM, GOD will raise with JESUS those who have died.  What we tell you now is the LORD’S OWN MESSAGE.  We who are living when the LORD’S COMES Again will not go before those who have already died.  The LORD HIMSELF will come down from Heaven with a loud command, with The Voice of the Archangel, and with the TRUMPET CALL OF GOD.  And those who have died BELIEVING IN CHRIST will RISE FIRST.  After that, we who are still alive will be gathered up with them in the CLOUDS to meet the LORD IN THE AIR.  AND WE WILL BE WITH THE LORD FOREVER.  So encourage each other with these WORDS.

IF YOU WERE TO HEAR THE TRUMPET CALL OF GOD TODAY, WOULD YOU BE TAKEN UP OR LEFT BEHIND?

CAN YOU THINK OF SOMEONE WHO ENCOURAGED YOU?  MAYBE A FAMILY MEMBER, A FRIEND, A NEIGHBOR,  A TEACHER, A COACH, OR A PASTOR.  A MEANINGFUL & TIMELY WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT HELPS TO BUILD US UP TO FACE ANY CHALLENGE IN FRONT OF US. 

HERE ARE THREE EXAMPLES FROM THREE AMAZING GUYS (HEROES) WHO SPOKE POSITIVE WORDS INTO MY LIFE.   EACH ONE GAVE ME HOPE TO FINISH WHAT I STARTED.  ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS, MY BEST MAN, STEVE;  MY FAVORITE TRACK COACH,  MR. WALTON; AND MY NEIGHBOR MR. BARTH .   I AM GRATEFUL TO EACH ONE OF YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO BUILD IN ME CONFIDENCE THAT I COULD DO ANYTHING OR TAKE ON ANY TASK IN FRONT OF ME.   YOU GUYS ARE MY HEROES!!  THANK YOU.

1.   IT HAPPENED IN THE SUMMER AT OUR LOCAL CITY POOL CALLED TACOMA.  YOU COULD FIND ME THERE FROM 9AM TO 8PM, DIVING OFF THE SPRING BOARDS.  THE MEMORIES OF THE POOL ARE STILL FRESH IN MY MIND.     I ARRIVED AT THE POOL VERY EARLY ONE MORNING BECAUSE I WANTED TO TRY A DIVE THAT HAD NEVER BEEN COMPLETED FROM THE HIGH DIVING BOARD.  MY BUDDY STEVE WAS AT THE CHECK IN GATE AND KNEW THAT I WAS GOING TO TRY TO PERFORM A TRIPLE FROM THE HIGH DIVE.  STEVE MADE A COMMENT: “YOU GOT IT”, AS I WALKED BY HIM.  THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT STAYED IN MY MIND AS I WALKED THE LENGTH OF THE POOL, AND BEGAN TO  APPROACH THE LADDER OF THE HIGH DIVING BOARD.  I REMEMBER STEPPING ONTO THE BOARD (ALL 5’4″, 120 POUNDS OF ME) VERY NERVOUS OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN IN THE AIR, OR MY THIN LITTLE BODY SLAPPING THE WATER AS I LAND.  THERE WERE NO LIFE GUARDS ON DUTY THAT EARLY AND THE WATER LOOKED FLAT AS A PANCAKE, WHICH WOULD REALLY STING, SHOULD I FAIL IN ATTEMPTING THE DIVE.   STILL FRIGHTENED, I REPEATED TO MYSELF, WHAT STEVE HAD JUST SAID MOMENTS BEFORE;  “YOU GOT IT”, THEN  I LOOKED OVER TO STEVE FOR REASSURANCE AND SAW HIS HAND HAD A THUMBS UP. FROM THAT MOMENT,  I DIDN’T HESITATE TO TRY THE THREE FLIPS.  I COMPLETED THE TRIPLE, LANDED IN THE WATER, AND WAS HAPPY AS A YOUNG DIVER COULD BE.  I GOT OUT OF THE POOL AND WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU TO STEVE  FOR GIVING ME THE COURAGE  THAT MORNING.  AS I GOT CLOSER TO MY FRIEND, HIS HAND WAS ABOVE HIS HEAD AND WE GAVE EACH OTHER A HIGH FIVE.    I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT MORNING.  I THANK GOD THAT HE HAND SELECTED STEVE TO BE THE INSPIRATION THAT I NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO DO THREE FLIPS (A TRIPLE) INSTEAD OF TWO FLIPS (A DOUBLE).  STEVE, THAT SUCCESS, I OWE TO YOU.

2.  IT WAS MY JUNIOR YEAR IN HIGH SCHOOL.  A NEW COACH ARRIVED IN DAYTON NAMED  MR. WALTON.  THE MOMENT HE BECAME MY TRACK COACH, LIFE GOT TOUGHER FOR ME.  MY TRACK SCHEDULE CONSISTED OF CHANGING CLOTHES, THEN WALKING UP TO DAVIS FIELD (OUR FOOTBALL STADIUM) PARKING LOT WHERE I ENJOYED POLE VAULTING.  COACH WALTON WOULD SOON CHANGE “TIMMY’S ROUTINE”.  COACH TOLD ME TO JOIN THE SPRINTERS TO RUN 50 YARDS.  I WILL NEVER FORGET SPRINTING BESIDE MY FRIEND’S STEVE & DENNY WHO DID THIS EVERYDAY AFTER SCHOOL.  THE SPRINTERS HAD TO SPRINT 50 YARDS, AND THEN WALK BACK 50 YARDS HOLDING THEIR HANDS ABOVE THEIR HEADS TO CATCH THEIR BREATH ONLY TO ARRIVE AT THE STARTING POINT TO DO IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. (DO YOU SEE MY MISERY HERE).  THIS DRILL LASTED FOR WHAT SEEMED TO BE AN HOUR.  I REMEMBER MY FIRST SPRINT AND COMPLAINED TO THE COACH, THAT I AM NOT A SPRINTER.  THE COACH GRINNED AND REPLIED; “TIMMY, YOU CAN DO IT”.   EVERYDAY, WHETHER INSIDE THE SCHOOL OR OUTSIDE AT PRACTICE,  COACH WALTON WOULD SAY “TIMMY, YOU CAN DO IT”.  I DIDN’T REALIZE HE HAD A PLAN FOR ME AND BELIEVED IN ME.  HE SAW IN ME THE ABILITY THAT I COULD NOT SEE.    COACH KNEW BECAUSE OF MY SMALL FRAME (MUSCLES) I COULD NOT BEND THE POLE AS I VAULTED, SO, HIS PLAN FOR ME WAS TO HOLD THE VERY END OF MY POLE AND HOLD ON WHEN I PLANTED THE POLE INTO THE GROUND.   THE REASON BEHIND THE SPRINTING, WAS TO INCREASE MY SPEED ON THE APPROACH DURING THE POLE VAULT.   COACH WALTON KNEW THIS WOULD INCREASE THE HEIGHT IT WOULD CARRY ME TO.  HIS TRAINING METHODS FOR ME THAT YEAR TURNED OUT TO BENEFIT MY GOD GIVEN ABILITY TO POLE VAULT AS I FINISHED NUMBER ONE AT STATE.   I REMEMBER ON MY FINAL ATTEMPT OF GOING OVER THE CROSSBAR, I COULD HEAR THE ENCOURAGING WORDS THAT TOUCHED MY HEART THAT DAY FROM THE COACH’S WIFE AS SHE CAME RUNNING ACROSS THE FIELD SAYING “THAT’S MY SON!”.  THANK YOU MRS. WALTON FOR ALL YOUR KIND WORDS AND EVEN BELIEVING THAT I SHOULD GO TO “TUMBLING COLLEGE AFTER GRADUATION”.  COACH WALTON, THE BEST COACH THAT GOD COULD GIVE ME AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE WHO WOULD TURN ME INTO A WINNER. YOU GAVE ME THE CONFIDENCE TO BELIEVE IN MYSELF.  COACH, YOU EVEN BELIEVED THAT I COULD WIN EVERY FIELD EVENT: LONG JUMP, TRIPLE JUMP, AND THE HIGH JUMP.  I AM SO PROUD TO HAVE BEEN UNDER YOUR INSTRUCTION AND FOR THE MANY TIMES I HEARD THESE WORDS: “TIMMY, YOU CAN DO IT”.  GOD BLESS YOU, COACH.

3.   I HAD THE NICEST NEIGHBOR YOU COULD HAVE IN THIS LIFE.  HIS NAME WAS MR. BARTH.  HE DIDN’T SPEAK LOUD, HE HAD A SOFT VOICE,  AND I REMEMBER ALMOST EVERYDAY, ESPECIALLY THROUGH MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, HE WOULD TELL ME HOW PROUD OF ME THAT HE WAS IN ALL MY ATHLETIC ENDEAVORS.   WHEN MR. BARTH HAD A TALK WITH YOU, THE WORDS HE SPOKE ALWAYS EDIFIED THE RECEIVER OF THE CONVERSATION.    I WAS MR. BARTH’S MODERN DAY “SPIDER MAN” FROM 1968 THROUGH 1976.  FOR EVERY TIME HE WOULD SEE ME, IT WOULD BE JUMPING OVER HIS FENCE, VAULTING OVER HIS HEDGES IN THE BACKYARD OR FLIPPING OFF AN 8 FOOT WALL AT OUR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAMES NEXT TO WHERE HE WOULD STAND.   MR. BARTH, THANK YOU FOR TELLING ME THAT I WAS “SPECIAL”, AND ALWAYS CONGRATULATING ME UPON READING YOUR PAPER AND SEEING THAT I WON FIRST PLACE IN THE POLE VAULTING COMPETITIONS.   I WAS A HYPER KID AND MR. BARTH CHOSE TO CALM ME DOWN BY TALKING WITH ME.  YOUR WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT MEANT A LOT TO ME AT MY AGE.    I KNOW THAT I WILL SEE YOU IN HEAVEN WHERE YOU WILL SAY TO ME: “CONGRATULATIONS TIM, HOW HIGH DID YOU JUMP THIS TIME TO GET HERE?”  I LOVE YOU, MR. BARTH.

BE A HERO TODAY.  TAKE TIME, AND HELP SOMEONE WITH YOUR WORDS!!

“GRACE….WHEREIN WE STAND”        1 PETER  5:12

“GRACED” to handle it!

GOD’S GRACE is what gets us through the rough times.  Paul acknowledged this when he spoke of his ‘thorn in the flesh’   (2 Corinthians 12:7).  Ever have a splinter in your finger?  You can still function, but it’s painful.  It won’t kill you, but it can make you pretty miserable.  Right?  What did God tell Paul?  The same thing He’s telling you, “My grace (my sustaining care ) is sufficient for thee” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

GRACE  keeps waiting for a prodigal to come back, endures prolonged illness, lives with little yet gives much, overcome’s disappointments, and forgives repeated offenses.  GRACE takes you beyond your natural ability, by forcing you to rely on GOD’s strength alone.

Paul said he looked forward to trials, “That the power of CHRIST may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).  What a place to be! When you’re there, the mere thought of doing anything on your own, is a ‘turn off’, because you know HIS strength is so superior.

How can two people go through exactly the same trial, yet one fold, and the other flourish?  The answer is ‘GRACE…wherein we stand” (1 Peter 5:12).  Both may be equal in every other sense, but one has been GRACED to handle it, the other hasn’t.

Stay in the areas where you’re “GRACED”,  for that’s where your strength and your success lie.  You ask, “Where do I find this GRACE?”  Listen, “The WORD of HIS GRACE which is able to build you up” (Acts 20:32).  It’s HIS WORD!  Have you been spending time there lately?  Published by: 2002 devotional.

REVELATION 21.  THEN I SAW A NEW HEAVEN AND A NEW EARTH.  THE FIRST HEAVEN AND THE FIRST EARTH HAD DISAPPEARED, AND THERE WAS NO MORE SEA ANYMORE (HOSTILITY, DARKNESS AND EVIL).   AND I SAW THE HOLY CITY, THE NEW JERUSALEM, COMING DOWN OUT OF HEAVEN FROM GOD.  IT WAS PREPARED LIKE A BRIDE DRESSED FOR HER HUSBAND.  AND I HEARD A LOUD VOICE FROM THE THRONE, SAYING, “NOW GOD’S PRESENCE IS WITH PEOPLE, AND HE WILL LIVE WITH THEM, AND THEY WILL BE HIS PEOPLE.  GOD HIMSELF WILL BE WITH THEM AND WILL BE THERE GOD.  HE WILL WIPE AWAY EVERY TEAR FROM THEIR EYES, AND THERE WILL BE NO MORE DEATH, SADNESS, CRYING, OR PAIN, BECAUSE ALL THE OLD WAYS ARE GONE.”  THE CITY DOES NOT NEED THE SUN OR THE MOON TO SHINE ON IT, BECAUSE THE GLORY OF GOD IS ITS LIGHT, AND THE LAMB IS THE CITY’S LAMP.  THE GREAT STREET OF THE CITY WAS OF PURE GOLD, LIKE TRANSPARENT GLASS.  

PLEASE READ REVELATION CHAPTER 21 & 22 FOR YOURSELF.  IT WILL BLESS YOU, AND GIVE YOU INSIGHT TO YOUR FUTURE “REAL ESTATE” OR HOME WHERE WE  WILL RECEIVE “THE SWEETEST WELCOME,” FROM THE FATHER.

WHEN I READ THIS SCRIPTURE, IT MAKES ME THINK OF A WEDDING CEREMONY, AND A GOLD RING THAT HAS BEEN PURCHASED ALREADY FOR THE BRIDE.  THE RING HAS THE LARGEST DIAMOND YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE OR DREAM OF.  THE DIAMOND IS OUR LIGHT AND IS JESUS HIMSELF.  THIS WEDDING CEREMONY WILL BE THE GREATEST EVER!!   ARE YOU READY?.  IF NOT, WHY NOT.  THE HUSBAND (JESUS) IS WAITING FOR YOUR RSVP.  

THESE TWO SCRIPTURES WILL HELP YOU TO “SAVE THE DATE.”

ROMANS 10:9.  THAT IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH, “JESUS IS LORD,” AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED.

JOHN 1:9  “If we CONFESS our SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL and JUST and will FORGIVE us our SINS and PURIFY us from all UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. 

GOLD IS WHAT WE STRIVE FOR, AND WANT TO GIVE OUR SPOUSES TO SHOW THEM HOW MUCH WE LOVE AND APPRECIATE THEIR SUPPORT, AND FOR THE LOVE THEY GIVE US AS HUSBANDS, ESPECIALLY ON VALENTINES DAY.   CAN YOU IMAGINE A GOLDEN CITY THAT IS PREPARED FOR YOU ONE DAY.  A PLACE  WHERE YOU WILL NOT BUY GOLD, BUT IT WILL GIVEN TO YOU TO WALK ON IN HEAVEN!!

GRACE is GOD’s Gift of LOVE, FORGIVENESS, STRENGTH, and MERCY.

GOD’s GRACE is found in JESUS CHRIST, and CHRIST is GOD’s Gift of MERCY.

GRACE and TRUTH came through JESUS CHRIST.  GOD’s Gift of FORGIVENESS, is found only by knowing JESUS CHRIST AS LORD.  You have been SAVED by GOD’s GRACE.  You did not save yourselves; it was a FREE GIFT from GOD.

THOSE WHO WANT GOD’S STRENGTH FIND IT BEST IN THEIR OWN HUMILITY, BY REACHING OUT TO GOD, BY ADMITTING NEED.  IT TOOK PAUL REALIZING HIS WEAKNESS TO LEARN THIS IMPORTANT LESSON ABOUT GOD’S GRACE WHEN THE LORD TOLD HIM, “MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU”.

GRACE IS NOT DESERVED OR EARNED BUT GIVEN.  THE BIBLE ENDS WITH A VERY RICH BLESSING IN (REVELATION 22:21) “THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS BE WITH ALL”.  AMEN

Dear LORD, Thank you for your LOVE and giving me a place to call home in YOUR KINGDOM.  I pray that you touch every soul who would read this blog “When Love Taken You In”.  I pray for them to know YOUR LOVE and be welcomed into your ETERNAL FAMILY.

Proverbs 18.1   A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgement.

Have you ever tried to help a friend who just came out of a relationship?  If you have, you know that it’s not easy.  People who get hurt, seem to isolate themselves from others, and very seldom do they want advice, even if that advice is coming from a brother, a teacher, a pastor, a counselor and even a friend that has already been through what they are now in the middle of.  I repeat the word middle because truthfully where they are now, will not be where they will end up as a promise from the LORD:” THIS TOO SHALL PASS”.   An old phrase that still supplies a little light through our present darkness states: “There is a light at the end of the tunnel”.  I personally believe that there is light at the entrance of the tunnel, there is light in the middle of the tunnel, and there is light at the end of the tunnel”.   “JESUS is the Alpha & Omega, The Beginning & the End, The First & the Last”.  With this in mind, how can we go anywhere, where he has not been?  Hold on to this promise by JESUS: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you, even unto the end of the world”.   JESUS did not place you into this world all by yourself, HE put you here to GLORIFY HIM and to be a friend to a friend in the time of need.  The Bible states that JESUS will be your friend that will stay closer than a brother.  The Chorus of a famous song by Al Green goes like this: “Lean on me, when you’re not strong, and I’ll be your friend, I’ll help you carry on”.  Seek GOD’s help through the Storms of your Life and watch as HE CALMS YOUR TROUBLED SEA.

GOD never created us to live separately and independently of each other.  GOD wants us to care for and nurture each other.  The LORD is frustrated when we sulk and feel sorry for ourselves, making everyone else responsible for our joy & happiness.   An isolated person seeks only his desire, not GOD’s.  He receives no counsel and sets himself up for deception.   I’m describing those who have imprisoned themselves.  They wander from relationship to relationship, looking for the LOVE that only GOD can GIVE.  They isolate themselves in their own world.  They think that all who do not agree with them are wrong and are against them.  They protect themselves in their isolation and feel safe in the controlled environment they have set up for themselves.  They no longer have to confront their own character flaws.  Rather than facing the difficulties, and rising above them, they look for a way to escape the biggest exam of their lives.

Growing up, I experienced first hand watching my parents divorce as well as watching my friends parents do the same.  What I remember, that pulled at my heart the most, was looking at parents pulling themselves further apart from each other and sinking into their own isolation, not even thinking of how this will (not might)  affect my kids future when they’re ready for marriage.  I saw warm hearts turn to cold hearts, it seemed overnight.  Love that once held families together was now hatred tearing them apart..   I watched as one of my friends had to raise himself because his father worked all night and slept all day.  I couldn’t imagine coming home from school to no parents, and having to go to bed prior to my dad getting home from work.   FATHER in HEAVEN, it is my prayer that we never isolate ourselves from tough times.  Turn our hearts back to YOU in the trials that come.  LORD, “IT’S TIME” for us to call for YOUR LOVE & DIRECTION, to KEEP THE FAMILY TOGETHER.  IN JESUS NAME.   AMEN

LUKE Chapter 5
 
Simply put, “WE NO LONGER GO FISHING”.   JESUS said that if we FOLLOW HIM, HE would “MAKE US”  FISHERS OF MEN.   Many followers were there to hear HIM speak, so HE requested to borrow a boat from a fisherman named Peter who agreed and anchored the boat a little off-shore.   When JESUS finished speaking to the crowd of people,  HE turned to PETER and said: “ LETS GO FISHING” out into deeper waters.   Peter answered the LORD and said that he toiled all night the night before and caught nothing, but “at Thy word”,  Peter lifted the anchor and off they went.  The difference between the first night and the next day, is that now, “THE PRESENCE OF GOD WAS IN HIS BOAT”.  It was Peter’s Largest Catch of fish as a fisherman.  GOD always BLESSES our second effort.

Invite the PRESENCE OF GOD into your vessel (your own life).  Let HIM speak through you to the crowd he puts before you, and listen to HIM when HE wants to take you to places you have never been before.
